Certified technique
Vodder-technique lymphatic drainage — a genuinely different discipline from massage, and one you should only book from someone certified in it.

Manual lymphatic drainage is not light massage. It is a specific, trained sequence of very light, rhythmic strokes that move fluid through the lymphatic pathways in the direction they actually drain. Done wrong it does nothing; done with too much pressure it collapses the vessels you are trying to open.
Lauren is certified in the Vodder technique, which is the method most post-surgical protocols are written around. That certification is the reason to book this here rather than to book 'a massage' and hope.
How it runs
There are real contraindications — active infection, certain cardiac and kidney conditions, untreated DVT. This comes first, every time.
Drainage starts at the neck, because there is no point pushing fluid toward a route that is not open yet.
Clearing the trunk before the limb. Working the swollen part first is the classic mistake and it achieves nothing.
MLD's effect is cumulative. A course of sessions does what a single one cannot.

Questions
It moves interstitial fluid into and along the lymphatic vessels, which reduces swelling and supports the immune traffic that runs through the lymph nodes. The pressure is deliberately very light — lymphatic vessels sit just under the skin.
It is widely used post-operatively, and the Vodder technique is the method most surgical aftercare protocols reference. Clear it with your surgeon first, and bring their guidance to the first session.
MLD works cumulatively — a series does what one appointment cannot. The right number depends on what you are treating, which is a conversation for the first visit rather than a number to quote here.
No, and that surprises people. It is light, repetitive and slow. If it feels like deep tissue work, it is not lymphatic drainage.
Anyone with an active infection, untreated congestive heart failure, kidney failure or a suspected blood clot. This is checked before the first session.
Not in the same appointment — the two work against each other. Alternate them across weeks instead.
Full Body Lymphatic Drainage is $160 for 60 minutes and $250 for 90 minutes.
